flowers

this viola is less than an inch across, the natursiums are still flowering
this fuchsia came from a bit of root from a plant that was a cutting from my Nana's garden in Lowfell, Newcastle.
I haven't managed to get a picture of them doing it but this is the hole that bees make in the fuscia to get the nectar out. my finger in the bottom right hand corner there, holding the flower still against the breeze.

Gorgeous photos Claire. I especially like your viola and the way the yellow fades through to purple. Beautiful.

I love the Viola.I have a lot in the garden and photograph them.I think they are like little watercolour paintings, the colour variations within a small flower.Your nasturtiums look nice, a strawberry/pink colour.I need to take fuschia cuttings for overwintering. All mine keeled over last year.

Stuart, the viola is an amazing colour. love you gnome photo.
Snappy, my red fuchsia seems totally hardy, its flowers are quite samll compared with modern ones, I've lost a few of those.

I love the viola. I'd never heard of them and thought it was a pansy. I googled and they're closely related.

Granny, I think the viola is just like a miniature pansy, lovely colours.
