doorsteps

it isn't really showing up but the biggest pot has a lavender in it, which gives of its lovely smell as you brush past. I have been picking a few flowers when cleaning the house and then I vacuum them up, a natural air freshner, handfuls have also found their way into my bath(checked for creepy crawlys first!)
this hosta has grown this year from a little offshoot from a friend.

I am away this weekend on a Permaculture course, so will post when I get back.

Gawd, even my hostas are sad and pathetic..how can you ruin hostas???

Only my neglected planters have done well this year.

Next year I am going to do some veg....for the kids to learn from!

Nice hosta, and no slug/snail damage...amazing! I just planted my lavender in the garden. I've had it in a pot since last fall (a piece from my son and DIL's garden). I hope it survives our NY winter. What a good idea to vacuum them up to perfume the house. I'll have to try it.

I love lavender.I trimmed some today for making sleep aids (wrapping flowers in a cloth to go under the pilow), and for adding to hot bath water.Might try the vacuum cleaner idea.Have fun on your course.

Wildside, just home and tired, nice people , reasonable weather, good food, lots of like minded discussion on permaculture "stuff"
Crunchy Carpets, usually its slugs and bugs that ruin hostas, veg can go in planters and containers too, good luck with them.
Kerri, I dont think the slugs have realised the hosta is at the top of the steps, it has done really well there, I have lost lavender in the winter sometimes I think its the wet more thatn the cold.
Patsy, I had a look at the castle, how amazing to move such a thing!! I dont think money should be spent that way, the permaculture view is local and sustainable, see I've been blethering about eco stuff all weekend!!
Snappy, lavendar under the pillow, great idea, my Gran used to make little pillows for hanging in wardrobes and putting in drawers, I think I have one with sage and rosemary I was given recently, its a bit strog with the sage.
